“WWOOF! The Movie” Kickstarter campaign met its funding goal
We greatly appreciate all the contributions we received from our backers. Without your continued faith and support the film wouldn’t be ready in time for this year’s festivals.

“WWOOF?… What is that?”
Well, it stands for World-Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms… or something like that. The exact meaning of the acronym has changed since the organization began in 1971. I’ll leave the history to the experts at www.WWOOF.org. I’ll just say that is a fun, educational, and inexpensive way to see the world. You can travel abroad, or stay in your own country and explore the places you always wanted to visit. You pay for your travel expenses, and your room and board is covered by the host family with whom you’re staying. You just have to put in a few hours of work on the hosts’ farm each day. Sometimes it isn’t even a farm… it might be a bed and breakfast, or a nature preserve, or a wellness clinic… there are many options out there. If you’re reading this, then there are WWOOF hosts near you looking for your help! But again, you can visit www.WWOOF.org for more information on that.
Why are you making a documentary about it?
That’s an interesting story. I am a videographer by trade, and a bit of an ecology geek by nature. I wouldn’t normally have the gall to travel 180,000 miles across 12 countries with just one Hi-Definition camera and 2 credit cards, but I just got married, and this was our “honeymoon”. Notice how “honeymoon” is in quotes? I use the term loosely here, because you don’t normally spend half your honeymoon digging around in the dirt. And it doesn’t usually last 4 1/2 months. But when all was said and done, my wife and I were even closer than before. Credit card debt is a tie that binds us like glue. Yep, that and love, I suppose. So now we’re making this documentary. Not that we’ll make any money off of it, but we hope to spread the word about volunteering, agri-tourism, and ecology. If everyone does his/her part to develop a better understanding about our food and where it comes from, we can live sustainable, healthy lives for generations to come.
“So what can I do to help you, Mr. Terry?”
Right now, we’re entering the final stages of production, so spreading the word is the most important thing. I am interested in hearing from anyone looking to help out with marketing/distribution, animations, video mastering, audio sweetening, and perhaps a few translations for international distribution. ALSO, I’m still looking for video submissions from other WWOOFers. The details of that can be found on the “contribute” page. And of course, monetary donations are always welcome! Click HERE to join the MAILING LIST, and I will keep you up to date on everything as this project progresses. Drop me an e-mail… I’d love to hear any questions, comments, feedback, anecdotes, recommendations, or encouragement. Thanks for your support!
Sincerely,
Ashley Terry
